 EASTER SEALS SOUTHERN NEVADA was founded 25 years ago on the principles of de-institutionalization and community integration; that core philosophy remains at the heart of all our programs today, in particular the EASTER SEALS SOUTHERN NEVADA Supported Living program.  Our program, one of the most highly respected of its kind in Las Vegas, is designed to help adults with disabilities achieve and maintain independent living in the community.  The services provided by our supported living staff vary  widely from individual to individual depending on their specific needs, and may range  anywhere from once a month to daily support.  EASTER SEALS SOUTHERN NEVADA assigns a human service professional who is available to do everything from assisting the individual in finding a place to live that  meets his or her needs and financial abilities, to providing the support services  needed to  maintain that level of independence once situated.  Services may be provided directly in the  home -- for example, helping the individual learn to cook or clean, establish a budget or  balance a checkbook -- or in the community, such as grocery shopping.  The EASTER SEALS SOUTHERN NEVADA staff is there to do whatever is needed to help guide the person with a disability towards his or her maximum level of independence.

   Recognizing that recreation is an important part of community-based living, the EASTER SEALS SOUTHERN NEVADA Supported Living program also organizes a variety of activities for program participantsincluding arts and crafts workshops, picnics, dances and weekly bowling.

   For individuals with disabilities who are still living with their families but  demonstrate a potential for independent living, EASTER SEALS SOUTHERN NEVADA offers in-home training.  The  EASTER SEALS human service professional helps both the individual and the family prepare for the time when independent living outside of the family is feasible.

   The EASTER SEALS SOUTHERN NEVADA Supported Living Program is open to anyone with a disability on a case by case contract basis.
