Finding a Job and Contributing in Your Community

Employment provides the opportunity to participate as a member of a community. Easter Seals Southern Nevada job training and employment services help people with disabilities learn skills to successfully enter the workforce, or to return to work after an illness or injury. Not only do employees benefit from the satisfaction of having a job, but businesses also gain from their contributions.

Easter Seals Southern Nevada provides Employment Training for people with disabilities

The unemployment rate among people with disabilities remains at an alarmingly high level. At Easter Seals Southern Nevada, we are proud to be making a significant contribution to improving the work climate for Nevadans with disabilities by offering a broad range of opportunities to learn valuable work skills and earn real wages.

On-site training is performed at Craig-Losee Community Work Site

The Easter Seals Southern Nevada Craig-Losee community work site is our largest single work site, employing some 150 trainees with disabilities and occupying 14,000 square feet in an industrial park just off I-15 and Craig Road in North Las Vegas. Program participants receive wages for work accomplished, utilizing skills acquired in vocational training. Trainees at the Craig-Losee work site perform a vast array of contract services for a growing number of local manufacturers:

  • Assembly of electrical, mechanical and plastics components
  • Packaging (heat seal, shrink wrap, blister packs and crating)
  • Administrative and mail services (collating, mail preparation and sorting for bulk mailings)
  • Salvage of metals, electrical and mechanical parts, fountain coin cleaning and sorting
  • Liquid fills (processing shampoo, lotions and fragrances)
  • Sewing bar rags, aprons, sand bags, covers, flags and other textiles

Off-site training is performed at Community Work Sites throughout Las Vegas

Smaller groups of paid trainees work under the instruction and supervision of Easter Seals Southern Nevada human service professionals at a variety of local businesses throughout the Las Vegas area, including Nevada Power and the Community College of Southern Nevada. Trainees have numerous occupational choices in a variety of settings, including:

  • Guestroom attendants at local hotels and motels
  • Custodians at hospitals and schools
  • Groundskeepers
  • Culinary workers (food preparation, kitchen aids, bus persons and dishwashers)
